Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 01/15/1999

Number: 1

Over 50 robins were seen resting restlessly in 2 trees in downtown Wayzata on 1/15/99. More were flying about town singly. I've also seen or heard at least 1 robin every day on a 2 mile walk. This is EXTREMELY unusual for Minnesota in January. In the 10+ years I've watched robins, I rarely see 1 before March. I suspect these are southbound, as their abundance is similar to what we usually see in late fall. Perhaps their migration is delayed due to the unusually warm fall.
