Jan 23, 99, Mid-coast of Texas: Saw our first Red-winged Black birds in numbers today along. Robins are very active and possibly beginning to move northeastward. Our hibiscus and hummingbird bushes are budding out. We have had a mild winter with only 2 mornings at 31 degrees, which "freeze burned" some of the more sensitive tropical plants that we couldn't cover. We have "cut back" our A. curassavica milkweed at school and at home. A few Monarchs are still visiting the A.c. Harlen and Altus http://www.homestead.com/vcs
