About the robins - they're everywhere. I had thirty of them on my street early this week. They were feeding on berries in an ornamental tree. This is quite unusual. In fact, in the 16 years I have been birding, I have never seen so many robins in the winter. If lucky, I might find one or two, but never anything like this. Every day, I see them somewhere and
everybody I talk to is seeing them. Our local paper had a photo of the robin on the front page with a quick blurb about how many people are calling in to report seeing them. All the hotlines are reporting them in this area. This includes all of Indiana, SW Michigan, NE Illinois. I even saw a post from Seward, Alaska that had robins on it. It was an RBA from BirdWest, I think.
For some reason, American Robins didn't migrate south this year like they usually do. Was it the weather? Was it food supplies? What could it have been? Was it because their predators' numbers were way down so they decided it would be safe
