On Jan 23, I saw about 100 robins and possibly more as I drove to
Livonia, Michigan, (near Detroit, west side... ) on the ground or in the air. I saw on the previous week 100's of robins at approx 4 PM roosting in trees at wetland at a very busy intersection of Plymouth and Livonia, Michigan. I would
have to estimate that on this approximately 10 acre area the trees were profusely decorated with robins and flocks were circling. I have never before seen robins like this in SE Michigan. Usually they are gone by late Nov. I never see them
again till the warm weather moves up from the south beginning in late Feb. Bluebirds also are here but they usually do hang around longer than robins. I have lived in Michigan for most of 35 years....and have been birding for most of those years. This is very unusual to me and very noticable. I had first begun to
notice in the early part of January when I found a flock of about 25 in my crab apple tree not 15' from my house. They hung around daily.
