Mid-coast of Tx: 1-30-99: We continue to have Monarch larvae appearing on our A.curassavica. Two large 5th instars at school in Victoria this morning (the fourth graders are keeping them for the weekend) and seven 7 3/4/5th instar larvae this week in our Port Lavaca backyard ... fertile Monarch eggs in mid-January along the Texas coast. We have measured, tagged and released over a hundred Monarchs since mid-December ... all from raised from local eggs. On Wednesday, we found a Monarch that had been caught in a spider web and got photos. Harlen and Altus Aschen http://www.homestead.com/vcs
