Tulips EMERGED

Date: 02/09/1999

Number: 1

Our first three tulips have emerged! Our weather has been warmer than usual for a January in Texas, but our tulips took about the same length of time from planting to emergence. I am interested to see whether the warm weather will help them to grow quickly now that they have begun to emerge.
The first year that we planted a Journey North tulip garden, we had a freeze during February. It's still winter (officially--by the calendar) but we have many redbud trees and other blossoming trees in bloom. I have even seen a couple of azalea blooms. No active fireant mounds so far as I've observed. The fireants seem to be our no fail spring has arrived sign. If you are looking for signs of spring--They are on the way!
