Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/10/1999

Number: 1

We have enjoyed monarchs all winter. At Christmas we had over 50 caterpillars on our milkweed bushes. In January we had a short freeze and things slowed down for a few weeks. We just hatched and released 23 butterflies. Our backyard is full of butterflies again. We are hoping to have enough milkweed to feed the caterpillars. Is there anything manmade that we can feed the caterpillars when they have nibbled all the milkweed? The weather here is in the 80's and no wind today. It is perfect monarch weather. We have been seeing them all over the city. Happy Mardi Gras!
