I work in Brazos Bend State Park, which is about 50 miles south
of Houston.
Today, I saw 2 very beautiful monarchs in excellent condition.
We have enjoyed occasional monarchs all winter here in the
State Park.
I observed several monarchs consumed by spiders on the milkweed
this winter. They eat the body then leave the wings.
When we had a freeze earlier (December) several monarch
caterpillars were killed by the freeze.
The milkweed is now recovering from the freeze and about to
bloom again.
