Robin (First HEARD singing)

Date: 02/18/1999

Number: 1

At 11:37am on a cloudy morning with some drizzle, I observed over a hundred robins anxiously flying about the hedgerows, calling to one another. They were not our small resident flocks of robins that stayed within the sumac and berry bushes, keeping a silent watch. These robins were on the move and quite noisy, and yes I did hear one break out into it's evening song- it was great!! It was approximately 37 degrees F. with reports of some snow coming our way in the next couple of days. The fields were mostly uncovered, having melted their snow the last few days.
