All Other Signs of Spring

Yesterday the 7th grade got to watch a Kestrel chase a Red-tailed Hawk out of a treetop just to the south of the campus. The students were surprised at how the mis-match in size resulted ... the Kestrel came back and perched near the same spot. We hear a Cardinal at 6:15 every morning announcing its perch at the top of the neighbor's tree. Doves, Mourning and White-winged, are starting their "coo-ing" before 6 am. The "resident" Mocking Birds are having territorial fights through the backyards. Three Monarchs were around the backyard this afternoon ... one female was observed depositing several eggs.
