A few migrating ducks, shovelers mostly, have appeared where there is open water. A few patches of open water appear on the ponds such as those at the Cherry Creek Fishing Access on the outskirts of Bozeman where Irving School had its Wetlands Festival last October. In these places, a few migratory waterfowl congregate; otherwise they take to the rivers and streams which tend to stay open all winter.
It's snowing this morning. Our Red Emperor Tulips are still under three or four inches of snow and ice. Our students haven't dug down to see if they are emerging beneath the snow. No robin sightings yet.
