Tapped trees tonight under the full moon, thanks to Beth Allen! This is the Ojibwe's "Broken Snowshoe Full Moon", maybe because early March snow melts and thaws and hardens to ice. These freeze/thaw temperatures cause the best sap flow, so the perfect moon for tapping. March 31 is the "Maple Sugar Making Full Moon"--the time to be outside boiling.
