Mrs. Long's class of 4th graders saw the first Red-winged Blackbirds today at 10 AM. We were at Sinking Ponds looking for animal tracks. We also saw a beaver dam that we walked across.
We saw Grey Squirrel, bird, Red Fox, and mouse or mole tracks.
The pond was frozen except for one part where a spring comes up. There were Mallard and Canada Geese on the ice and water. We got to see a goose with a broken wing.
It is called Sinking Ponds because 26 bridges have sunk there. Now the road goes around the pond.
