Eagles galore.This time of year you will see adults and immatures almost anywhere on the river.After viewing northern harriers, redtails,a great blue heron along Rt.9,northern Dutchess I pul- led up to the bridge facing north;northwest on the river.It is always a good idea to stay in your vehicle as a sort of blind. Well I got out quick just to clean the windows and within a minute of arriving I saw a huge wingspan slowly rise from riverside west.My first thought was greater black-back,but I quickly realized it was an adult bald."She" flew right at me at about 60 ft., circling at the same height curiously watching until she finally rose a little higher still viewing below.A few minutes passed and two immatures rose from feeding the flats and soared together with the strong northwest winds pushing them south.Adults perched inside the smaller river staying out of the strong winds.You notice how these birds shape their wings to actually fly into the wind and progress to
