We saw the largest "flock" of Robins I can ever remember yesterday in our yard! There were approx. 40 Robins - many looking quite plump - perching in our apple trees. It is unusual to see more than 4 or 5 at a time here in RI. We had just had a lot of snow the night before totalling approx. 13". Maybe that was a factor? We did see one other large group a few days ago (Mar.10) along the side of the highway in the grassy area, but we didn't count more than 10 at that time. When I was younger I remember only seeing one or two at a time. Is this a new phenomenon in southern New England? Maybe they are just being notice more because of cleared land? Perhaps climate or habitat change?
