All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 03/18/1999

Number: 1

Ducks are now wandering around on lawns--in pairs. Canada geese, flocks of which are a common winter sight here, are now seen in pairs whereever there is water--Either swimming together or on a bank together.

A great blue heron was seen last weekend trying to fish from a still iced-over pond (Perhaps there was water at the edge!)

I haven't spotted any female redwings yet.

We don't have any leaves on the sugar maple we are watching, but some other varieties of maple, perhaps swamp maples, are showing signs of leaves.
