Loon (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/15/1999

Number: 1

There are hundreds of loon on a bay of the Illinois River about five
miles south of Havana Ill. This so far has been the biggest group seen
by my friend and I.The water is still pretty cold. We have had two snow
storms in the last week and they do not seem to be moving north as they
have been around for two weeks. The water is all open. It is good to see
them staying...the locals still call them DUCKS!!
