Hi Journey North,
Things are absolutely popping around here. Between March 17-March 20, the ticks emerged. One student has a fully "inflated" tick tangled in her hair on Friday (March 19). It undoubtably sucked it's fill of her blood and than released itself,only to become hopelessly tangled in long hair. This is where the nurse found the tick. Four of 10 people found ticks (1 each) on themselves after a school field trip on Saturday where we were cleaing Bluebird Houses.
Tree Swallows arrived at my house 9 miles north of Polson on March 21. Mountain bluebirds arrived in the town of Polson on March 16. Two of them were sitting near one of the boxes we cleaned as if to say...please clean our box! So we did! Usually the tree swallows beat the bluebirds here. This year the bluebirds won.
The crocus in my garden are just about to bloom. We found a long-toed salamander under a garbage can lid yesterday (March 22). I have found only 2 buttercups so far (March 7-14). It's p
