Robin (First HEARD singing)

Date: 03/22/1999

Number: 1

Spring has definitely arrived in Calgary! We have had an unusually warm, dry spring with temperatures reaching 19C twice this week (normals for this time of year are 3.8C). Our low temperature yesterday was -4C with the normal low usually falling to -8C. These are record breaking temperatures for our area. We have had only 9mm of precipitation so far this month. This is the first week that we have noticed much Robin activity. The Chickadees and Flickers are also busy establishing their territorities. Our Ground Squirrels are starting to emerge from their winter hibernation and grass is starting to turn green.
