About 10 of our 15 tulips have emerged. They were buried under about four feet of snow until this week. We have only had eight growing degree days before this week. This week we have had many more growing degree days.

WHen we dug up a bulb in February it had a long yellow sprout. When the tulips emerge the bud is mostly red and then some green. Why is that?
