Altus and I went to a farm 75 miles west of Port Lavaca and found wild milkweed growing and blooming. While digging three plants to bring home we saw two female monarchs depositing eggs on nearby milkweeds. We netted and tagged one and then set on a northward movement. We have about 60 larvae of all sizes in the backyard plus new eggs. There are still some monarchs visiting at home and at school. We released 15 tagged monarchs on Easter Sunday. Yesterday (Monday) we counted 6 different monarchs visiting the backyard ... 4 that we had released on Sunday.
