Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/05/1999

Number: 1

This is the first sighting I have seen in weeks.
I have seen Monarchs all winter. The sightings have
been very sparce during the winter here in Palmetto, Fl.
Palmetto is my home which is only about 5 minles from Bradenton
which is where I teach First Grade.

I have mildweed plants in the grarden at home which obviously
attracts the Monarchs.

At school in Bradenton. We have a garden in which the children
grown milkweed and raise the Monarch Chrysalis which have been
collected from the garden.

We have to collect the chrysalis because other children will go
into the garden and kill the caterpillars. Sad, but true.
We have found that these butterflies when released into the garden seem to stay all winter and infact all year round.
