Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/08/1999

Number: 1

Hello from west Houston,

Thought you'd be happy to know that at least one tattered old migrating Monarch that visited my huge blooming milkweed plant has left her mark!
This evening I counted at least 12 monarch caterpillars from
very small (1/4 inch) in size to huge (2 inches) happily
chomping away at the leaves. Most were very large and looked
like they were close to pupating stage. I imagine you will
be seeing these new butterflies farther north in short order.
I don't know how I missed seeing them earlier, except to
say the plant is huge and very dense.
Happy Spring to All,

Barbara Wilson
