We continue to see several monarchs in our area. On the last three days, April 9, 10, and11, we have seen over 60 each time we have been out. The 10th was cloudy, but the other two days have been sunny and all were in the upper 70's. We have tried to catch a female in hopes that see would lay eggs on some milkweed we over wintered, but all of the ones we have caught have been males. Most are faded and very ragged.
We do have a monarch larva that hatched today, Sunday, April 11, 1999, from an egg laid by a female last Monday - the 5th. It is so tiny you can hardly see it.
