Date: 04/05/1999

Number: 1

Saw my first Monarch near Ruidoso, New Mexico, on Monday, April 5, at 7200 ft. Very worn, many scales missing on all wings of a normal size female.
Had been 18'F at 6 AM, but was 64'F at about 1 PM when Monarch observed nectaring on small yellow flowers, ID unk. 100 % sun. Winds had been 40 mph the previous day, with gusts to 60 mph, but were down to 20 mph at time of observation.
