A dash of orange and black crossing the road announces the season's first
Monarchs in Colts Neck, NJ. The weather has been mostly cloudy with highs
in the fifties, except for a few sunny hours this morning. The A.
incarnata has barely broken ground with 1/4 inch stubs showing. None of
the native milkweeds (A. syriaca) are visible in the usual spots. We've
seen cabbage whites for the past three weeks, but not much other activity.
Nectar sources are few and far between.
