All Other Signs of Spring

Migrants are at peak this week. Indigo Buntings, Painted Buntings, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Blue Grosbeaks, Orchard Orioles, Summer and Scarlet Tanagers, various warblers and flycatchers. Saw 82 different species in one day (Monday, 04-19-99) within ten miles of home (we live IN the metro area). Grass seeds and Mulberrys are ripe. We are in a drought so insects are scarce causing some warblers to move on sooner than usual.
