Our Butterfly Garden was started in the fall of 1997. We tilled up a small oval area in the city park, located across the street from our school. That first year, we planted tulip bulbs rather late. These were for the Journey North Tulip Project. We were surprised to find yellow blooms that next spring. After the blooms wilted, we planted purple saliva, allysum, and Missouri Primrose. We plan to add more perennials as we work in our garden.
