Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/28/1999

Number: 1

I saw a Monarch just before noon today. It flew over the driveway and house and then through the backyard into an open field. Wings were faded and it was traveling in a northeasterly direction. Temps were in the mid 70's with W-SW winds at about
10 MPH. Skies were mostly sunny with a few fluffy cumulus clouds. I checked my milkweed plants yesterday and found a total of 10 caterpillars. The milkweed is anywhere from 4" to 10" tall. Growing milkweed for Monarchs is a very rewarding.
Hope to plant more milkweed in the future.
