Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 04/30/1999

Number: 1

Our blooming tulips are around 11 inches tall. We planted them in a circle and only half of the tulips in the "ring" are up. The tulips are protected by a brick wall that surrounds the circle; this garden is planted on the southern, grassy part of our playground and we put a small retaining wall up for protection. We think the tulips planted on the south side do not get enough sunlight. The wall appears to cast a shadow during the afternoon. The ground temperature is 5 degrees cooler on the part of the circle where the tulips are just beginning to emerge!
