Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/30/1999

Number: 1

The 7th graders have collected over 60 monarch eggs today that had been deposited on the Asclepias curassavica in the school's "butterfly cafe". K thru 7th observed a female depositing eggs after noon yesterday and then again all of today. This is the most "loading" of the plants with eggs since mid-March. There was only one double and one triple, but several eggs had been placed on buds and a few on the top of leaves. The Kinder Klasses want to raise some monarchs from eggs ... we have 3 1/2 weeks of school left ... will be close. The female(s) was large and in good shape ... Harlen
