I have been looking and expected to see the first Monarch butterfly before now, but spotted one around noon on April 30, 1999, at Allen Elementary School. On April 17 I was at Botanica, the Wichita Gardens, which has a butterfly garden and I actively was looking for monarchs, but didn't see any. We have been experiencing cool rainy weather, but Friday was beautiful. I wasn't close to get a real good look, but the colors appreared to be strong, so perhaps this is a new generation butterfly. Ironically, our Symbolic Migration Butterflies also arrived on Friday.
