Oriole (1st Baltimore)

Date: 05/02/1999

Number: 1

The first male Baltimore Oriole was spotted in the neighbor's cherry tree this afternoon. Actually, I recognized his chattering "Gr-ch-ch-ch-ch" call that he does whenever he comes to the tree (or for the oranges) so I had to search the tree until he was spotted. This will be the fourth year that an oriole has returned to the yard and I'm not sure if the same bird returns to the same area every year. Later, after placing out a few more oranges, there were actually five males that had come down for the oranges. This is the most number of orioles that have over been in the yard at the same time.
