Hi JN,
Two days ago, as I drove home from school, I saw a long-billed curlew on a lawn along the road I was traveling. I was shocked to see it there, but also delighted. This is one of my favorite birds. Yesterday, I took two students on a birdwatching trip to Pablo National Wildlife Refuge and 2 curlew flew over the vehicle. I had just told the students about this amazing bird. We also saw hundreds of Ruddy Ducks...who have just arrived. A redtail hawk was feeding very small young in a nest and a pair of bald eagles were at their nest. It was quite a field trip. Finally a flock of water pipits were sighted on a mud flat. Cool
