Forwarded from Monarch Watch
On Sunday, April 16th, I was walking around my small yard examining my
Common and Swamp Milkweed and found sixteen 3/8 inch long Monarch larva
on five plants. (There were many more plants present. All the larva,
except one, were on the Common Milkweed, which is much taller.) Later
in the day I went to several fields of Common Milkweed and found 8 eggs
on 4 plants in one very small field. I have not yet seen an adult
Monarch in Indianapolis this year, but -- obviously -- at least one or
two have been/are in the area. This is much more encouraging than last
year, when it was difficult to find larva anywhere all summer. Marty
