I spotted the monarch while I was walking on a path that follows the Mississippi River. It was about 6:45 p.m. The monarch was flying north, occassionally resting on the ground. There were a few dandelions, but not many other flowers and no milkweed anywhere. The monarch was a female and from the condition of the wings, she was old.
