Ice-Out

Date: 05/16/1999

Number: 1

Sunday, May 16: We have been watching the Tuluksak River, which flows into the Kuskokwim River about one mile south of the village. In the morning, there was still a large strip of ice in the middle of the river, although there was a lot of melt along both edges. The ice went out in one large rush about 11 a.m., moving the entire mass of ice out in less than one hour. The river was completely clear of ice by noon.
