Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/21/1999

Number: 1

Some of the "marked" monarchs continue to return to our backyard ... the middle of the Texas Gulf coast. Yesterday two males from May 11 (one coupled with a moderately faded, unmarked female) and today males from May 11 and 12 were among other monarchs in the backyard. A female (possibly the one from yesterday) and an unmarked male were also around when we got home about 5 pm today. In the past 8 days, "many" (50+) eggs were deposited three different days. We will attempt to see if more than one female is around tomorrow ... yellow and red wasps "working" the milkweed this afternoon ... we hope not for the monarch larvae!
