Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/28/1999

Number: 1

We were very happy to see that some of the monarch larva that had hatched in our outdoor classroom made it to adulthood. Over the past several days we have seen at least ten newly hatched butterflies feeding on the plants in the garden before heading on to other places. We were very afraid that all had been eaten by red wasps who seem to love the caterpillars. Most of the spring migration butterflies have moved north of us - but a few still stay around for us to enjoy.
