We have lived in a house for twelve years with a milkweed
patch in our back yard.We have raised caterpillars inside
and been able to watch the life cycle from caterpillar to
butterfly many times.
For the last two years even though our milkweed patch is
thriving we have not seen one monarch,so no caterpillars
either.
On Friday June 4/99 my daughter saw a monarch,
On Saturday JUne 5/99 I saw one also.
Our milkweed doesn't usually break ground until July,
but an unusually warm spring has our plants about six inches
tall already. We are hoping for a good caterpillar crop this
year!
