Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/10/1999

Number: 1

We had a female monarch visit over the weekend (June 5-7) and we brought in 59 eggs over the three days. Most have now hatched and we will put them in a backyard cage that covers an Asclepias curassavica plant to protect the small larvae from the wasps. Two male monarchs visit the backyard A. curassavica every day. One we raised, marked, and released on June 1 and he has stayed around for 11 days. The other male is large and (if it is the same one) has been around since May 30. The males are still in good shape with some fading, but the female was moderately faded.
