She came and went but left 11 eggs on the common milkweed. I did not see
her. She put the eggs on the flower buds. This is the normal time I usually
see the first eggs. Predators are lurking just waiting. Close watch on the
patch has become daily job.
There are large spiders in the patch this year. I have never seen them
before. It is 88 and humid today. We have had a lot of rain and the
milkweed is flourishing. It seems that every plant has a flower bud this
year. The swamp milkweed should burst into bloom this week.
