First monarch I spotted in Mitchell County, North Carolina also on May 26
about 2:30 pm and temp mid-60s and also breezy. At the end of Cane Creek
Road in a field at the base of Hawk Mountain, east of Bakersville.Didn't
get close enough to see well but it looked like it was in good condition.
None yet at my home place two miles south of Bakersville at Snow Hill. Mary
