Our Unpave the Way garden is now three years old. It is an area about 20 feet square. We have sedum, yarrow, butterfly bush, purple coneflower, black-eyed susan, bachelor button, two types of bee balm and milkweed in our garden in bloom right now. Today we checked and found our first Monarch egg on one of our milkweed leaves. It was on the bottom side of the leaf about halfway down the plant. We only have about three milkweed plants growing this year so we think that was pretty lucky. There were also many small bright yellow bugs all over the top leaves of the plant. We're wondering if these are aphids. There was also a ladybug on the plant. About one third of the leaves had been partly eaten.
