Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/31/1999

Number: 1

The month of July I had a female laying eggs every day. There were days when I would be visited by two or three females. The weather has been very hot and humid. We experienced our hottest weather the last week of July. The dew points was in the 70's. The butterflies seem to like hot, sunny, and windy days to lay their eggs.I will be tagging a lot of butterflies in August. There have been predators in the milkweeds mostly spiders. I happened to put a larvae of the lacewing in with ten eggs and ended up with a fat lacewing larvae and no eggs. One day I observed the copulation of a pair of monarchs.
