This spring my husband, Ken, and I built a small pond and waterfall in our backyard. This with the addition of a wildflower garden, birdfeeders + houses, and extra trees we planted are beginning to result in more creatures in our yard. Our small but growing patch of milkweed for the monarchs so far has produced no young but I have seen them stop and feed on the flowers. Our perennial garden has seen monarch and swallowtail butterflies as well as sparrows and goldfinches feeding on their nectars. Dragonflies and damselflies have regularly been seen around the pond. We even erected a bat box on the telephone pole in the corner of the yard.
