9/1 A monarch crossed the street in my front yard just before 1 p.m. The monarch was moving in a S-SW direction about 15 feet above the road. Sky conditions were sunny with temps in the 90's with low humidity and NE winds about 7 mph.
9/2 I spotted a female monarch(slightly faded)nectaring on a butterfly bush. She was there for a short time and then flew off in a westerly direction. This sighting was just before noon. Skies were mostly sunny with temps in the low 90's with east winds about 10 mph.
9/3 A female with bright, fresh wings was spotted on a butterfly bush about 6:15 p.m. She spent the next hour or so nectaring.
Around 7:25 p.m. she went to roost in a hackberry tree nearby.
Her roost was about 20 feet above ground on the end of a small limb. I watched her until it was dark. This morning
she was still in the same location. Just after 8:00 a.m. she left the tree and flew directly back to the butterfly bush where
she spent approx. 90 minutes nectaring. Patch
