Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/31/1999

Number: 1

I sighted the first Monarch of the season while my class was meeting with the Nyelo Adventure Based Training in the Soque River Outdoor Classroom on Tuesday, August 31, 1999. It was just drifting along and sailed directly over our group as we were seated in a circle. It was a beautiful clear day with a cooler feeling of fall in the air.

On Saturday, September 4, my family sighted four Monarchs feeding on milkweed beside Webster Lake in Cleveland. They were almost in a frenzy.

On Monday, September 6, I sighted a lone male Monarch feeding in my front yard in Cleveland. His wings were faded and he was very slow.
