While birding Lake Oologah OK, traveling 100miles that day, I counted nine Monarch butterflies aloft. In Talala-the boat ramp, west side of lake, a large buttonbush in bloom lakeside was covered with butterflies. Most of them large Tiger Swallowtails, black Swallowtails with blue hindwing (small orange area)and three Monarchs, total 18-20. Tiny butterflies flitted among black and yellow bumblebees, all sipping nectar. These 12 Monarchs beat the week before when two were seen at Hummer feeder site (15-17 feeders) in Vinita OK.
