On Sept. 1 and 2 the first graders found two caterpillars on the milkweed around our school. The children brought 34 more caterpillars to school that they found near their homes! We have been raising these and watching them as they are becoming chrysalids and then butterflies. By Sept. 8 all but one had turned into chrysalids. On Sept. 13 four butterflies emerged. Yesterday six more did so. Today one has come out. We have been releasing these and bidding them farewell on their long trip to Mexico!
